Antonio Galloni Vinous
The 2013 Barbaresco is sweet, candied and perfumed, with striking aromatics, silky tannins and exceptional finesse. Just bottled, the 2013 is shaping up to be a real jewel of a wine. This is a wonderfully complete, impeccable Barbaresco from the Rocca family. Specifically, the 2013 is more finely cut and delineated than the 2012 tasted alongside it.
Bruno Rocca does a fabulous job with his base Barbaresco. The 2013 Barbaresco is an elegant and streamlined wine with delicate nuances of dark fruit and wild berry backed by dried violets and white pepper. The approach is elegant, fine and silky. I highly recommend this wine for near and medium-term drinking.
Bruno Rocca is amongst the leading producers of Italy’s legendary Barbaresco. The estate owns 15 hectares of vineyards, mainly in Rabaja – the heart of Barbaresco town and some parcels in Neive for Barbera & Chardonnay. Bruno Rocca & his son, Francesco work in the vineyards and 70,000 bottles are yearly produced at the estate since 1978 , all of which are hand-signed by Bruno. Bruno’s daughter, Luisa takes care of commercial aspect and ensures its quality wine is evenly spread out on the international market.
